Albany, New York, April 15, 2016 — Lawrence J. Holzberg, President of NAIFA-NYS, today announced the selection of Alex Tronco, Managing Partner of Northwestern Mutual in locations throughout the state, as winner of the prestigious Spencer L. McCarty Award—the highest honor that NAIFA-NYS gives to one of its members.  Holzberg also recognized Prudential Advisors’ Albert Brodbeck, who serves as NAIFA-NYS Secretary and chair of its Legislation Committee, as winner of the Ben Brewster Government Relations Award.

According to President Holzberg, “Alex Tronco epitomizes the kind of dedication to the life insurance industry that the McCarty award seeks to highlight, and has gone above and beyond in both his professional and charitable endeavors to protect consumers and to help them plan for the future. It is uncommon to find someone who has made such a difference in the lives of so many.”

Holzberg noted that the Times Union recently called Tronco’s agency one of the “2016 Top Workplaces” in the Capital region, and that the Albany Business Review has recognized Mr. Tronco’s firm as a “Best Place to Work”.  Tronco is a long-standing supporter of, among other charities, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (www.alexslemonadestand.org), which raises money to help find a cure for childhood cancers, and has provided more than $3 million for the cause.  (Further information regarding the Foundation will be available at the May 15-17 NAIFA-NYS Annual Conference and Day on the Hill in downtown Albany.)

The NAIFA-NYS Ben Brewster award recognizes exceptional service to the organization’s government relations activities and to achieving the goals of its Legislation, Political Action, and Political Involvement Committees.  President Holzberg praised Al Brodbeck of Prudential Advisors in Yonkers for his years of dedication to NAIFA-NYS—and for his strong leadership as head of the organization’s re-energized Legislation Committee.

“A critical component to the rebirth of NAIFA-NYS,” said Holzberg, “is the renewal of its Legislation Committee to actively address both state and federal issues affecting New York agents.  Al’s leadership is exactly what we need at this juncture in NAIFA-NYS history.”

Mr. Tronco and Mr. Brodbeck will be honored during a 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. awards dinner on Monday, May 16—during the NAIFA-NYS Annual Conference and Day on the Hill at the Renaissance Hotel in Albany.  Program and speaker details, as well as online registration, for the NAIFA-NYS “Renaissance at the Renaissance” are available at www.naifanys.org.
