In a packed room of members, local legislators and their aides, and state association staff, the NAIFA-Buffalo Legislative Breakfast on January 26 was an enthusiastic start to 2017 from one of the most enthusiastic New York locals.  It also kicked off the first leg of a NAIFA-NYS staff Western NY membership tour.

There was an impressive showing of area legislators and their staff at the event.  Among those participating were newly elected Senator Christopher Jacobs (R-C-I, SD 60), a member of the Senate Insurance Committee, and his Chief of Staff Chris Knosbe; Senator Michael Ranzenhofer (R-C-I, SD 61) and his Sr. Field Representative Jon McNulty; Senator Timothy Kennedy (D-I-WFP, SD 83), a member of the Senate Insurance Committee, and his Legislative Director Rick Rodgers; Maddilyn Genovese, Director of Community Relations for Senator Robert Ortt (R-C-I, SD 62); and Keith Bryan, Director of Operations for Senator Patrick Gallivan (R-C-I, SD 59).

Assembly representatives included Assem. Michael Kearns (D-I, AD 142); newly elected Assem. Monica Wallace (D-WFP, AD 143) and her Legislative Asst. Jordan Zyglas; Assem. Raymond Walter (R, AD 146) and his Chief of Staff Erin Baker; Naomi Sakoviks, Communications Director for Assem. Robin Schimminger (D-C-I, AD 14); and Leah Halton Pope, Chief of Staff for Assem. Crystal Peoples-Stokes (D-141, AD 141), a member of the Assembly Insurance Committee.

Prior to breakfast, NAIFA-NYS staff held a get-acquainted meeting with Senator Jacobs and his Chief of Staff, and later that day met with Assem. Robin Schimminger and Sen. Patrick Gallivan in their district offices.  We walked away with an Assembly sponsor (Assem. Schimminger) for Sen. Golden’s LTCI Tax Credit bill, on our priority support list.
