Something big happened on Thursday, May 9: in local districts around the state, NAIFA-NYS members sat down with their Assemblypersons and Senators and legislative staff and talked about NAIFA-NYS issues. No travel to Albany, no major time away from the office. Just friendly conversation—during NAIFA-NYS’ first-ever “Virtual” Day on the Hill—about life insurance concerns that affect local constituents and businesses. There were four topics on the agenda—encouraging SUPPORT for our bill to grant three (3) CE credits for active membership in associations like ours and for our bill to return NYS anti-rebating law to its original intent, and OPPOSITION to a bill that would let only CFPs advise seniors and to a bill that would require non-fiduciaries to make a misguided, imbalanced, and unfair disclosure to consumers.
More NAIFA-NYS members participated in the May 9 “Virtual” Day on the Hill than they have in recent Albany-based versions. District days definitely will be back!
