Nearly 20 representatives of NAIFA-NYS took to DC on May 14 to 15 for the NAIFA Congressional Conference and the chance to meet one-on-one with Members of the NYS Congressional delegation and their key staff. Lawmakers represented districts from across New York—ranging from the 27th District in Western New York to the 1st District on the Eastern end of Long Island—and sit on congressional committees vital to our issues, including Financial Services and Ways & Means.
The weather was perfect, and our arguments were strong and persuasive. We made a critical and effective case for supporting the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act (HR 1994) and, among other things, cautioned against “Medicare for All” proposals that would dismantle, at enormous expense, the employer-based healthcare system.
The Congressional Conference is a highlight of the NAIFA event calendar, and participating is one of the most significant benefits of NAIFA membership.
